History of our B&B

A Story of Family, Farming, and Hospitality

Heaven’s Rest B&B is deeply rooted in history and the love of land. Situated amidst lush market gardening land, the property has been a part of Kurt’s family for over 35 years. Judy and Peter Maxwell, Kurt’s parents, built their dream family home here, while growing parsley for over three decades. After their retirement, Kurt and Robert took the helm and converted the generously spaced home into a B&B, an idea inspired by the home’s layout, designed to host people. What started in 2018 with just the Tui Wing, has now expanded to multiple guest areas, embracing the spirit of a true Kiwi stay.

About Kurt, Judy, and Peter

Bonded by Love, Driven by Passion.

Kurt, Judy, and Peter are the pillars supporting Robert’s vision of Heaven’s Rest B&B. As Robert’s partner, Kurt provides assistance and support to the operations, although not directly involved. Kurt’s parents, Judy and Peter, the original architects of the family home, lend their wisdom and warmth to the place. They visit occasionally, sharing laughs and drinks with guests, thereby enhancing the familial vibe of Heaven’s Rest. Their collective contributions help maintain the property’s homely feel, ensuring guests get a wholesome, authentic experience.
